City of Austin presentation- Paul Tomasovic & Keith Leech discussed concerns with code enforcement issues of the neighborhood. Note: Code Enforcement is thru the Solid Waste Services Department of the city. They recommended the NNA have a follow-up presentation by the Watershed Protection Department of the city on Residential Design Regulations. The Code Enforcement Division was restructured 18 months ago- 37 Investigators now cover the city. Mr. Tomasovic & Mr. Leech covered topics of Zoning Enforcement, Sign & Yard Setback, Mobile Vending, Certificate of Occupancy, Public Right of Way, Dangerous Buildings & Housing & Illegal Dumping. They encouraged residents to check out these topics online, in the city’s website. Residents asked how to know if a project is being done without a permit. They were told to look for the permit posted on the job site as well as on-line with the city. Complaints should be filed thru 311, the city’s non-emergency phone line. Turnaround is 48 hours from the time a complaint is filed; an Investigator is sent out, a violation notice or letter is sent next & the violator has 7-14 days to comply. They pointed out most people do comply. If there is no response the case goes to municipal court. Fines can be from 0- $2000/per day. The city can clean up/ mow the area and have the owner pay for it. 5. Announcements- • An Easter/Springtime celebration will be held on Sunday, April 7 at 4pm at Bruning Green.
