Northfield Neighborhood - Meeting Minutes - 03/05/07 The meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM by Sebastian Wren, President. ANNOUNCEMENT: Ashley Montague reported that the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) of Ridgetop Elementary School is seeking to submit grants to finance a new sign/marquee. This new sign will be on Caswell Street, will be larger( large enough to support bilingual messages) and more visible. Ashley is seeking a letter of support from the NNA to be attached to grant proposals . Other neighboring neighbohood association support will also be requested. Mary Patrick moved to support Ridgetop's efforts with a letter of support by the NNA. Discussion period resulted in no further discussion. A unanimous vote approved the motion. GREETINGS/INTRODUCTIONS: 13 persons present at tonight's meeting. TREASURER'S REPORT: Joe Carcione, Treasurer, reports a balance of $ 1222.76. OFFICER NOMINATIONS: The following officers have agreed to remain in their posts: President (Sebastian Wren), Vice President (Monty Newton), (Joe Carcione), Co-Secretaries (Annie Ervin and Jan Seward), Newsletter Editor (Beka Clark), Newsletter Distributor (Brenda Benner) and Keeper of the Green (Cindy Black). Our Webmaster (Andy Espenschied) has requested to be replaced. Kate Amerson (co-secretary) will be polled to find out her interests in the upcoming year. Per Mary Patrick's suggestion, Sebastian will post to NNADL to invite interested to run for office and/or assume Webmaster responsibilities. Officer voting will occur at the April 2nd meeting. YARD SIGNS: Residents need more (with accurate web site) signs. Sebastian reports that North Loop Signs has offered to make signs for $5 each. Beka will make contact. BYLAWS: Current Bylaws and Proposed Bylaw Revisions (as developed by Bylaw Committee members Sebastian Wren, Jan Seward, Mary Patrick and Bill Yoder) were distributed for review. Recommendations were made to 1) narrow the job description of "Keeper of the Green" to Bruning Green only and 2) to develop a position on Absentee/Proxy voting. Sebastian Wren will post the proposed Bylaws on the NNADL after further compiling suggested changes. Mary and Ashley will search archives for previous position statements regarding Absentee/Proxy voting. Voting on the proposed Bylaw Revisions will occur at the meeting on April 2, 2007 NEWSLETTER: The spring Newsletter is going to the printer this evening and will be ready for distributiion by the end of this weekend or early week of 3/11/07. Beka encourages timely delivery due to several time-sensitive announcements and a discount coupon. Brenda Benner will post delivery sign-up to the NNADL. Beka has reprinted articles of historic neighborhood interest, information about grafitti and noise ordinances, articles from Austin newspapers featuring neighborhood residents, memorials of prominent residents (ie Gerry Patrick, Mr. Howard) etc. This collection will be available at neighbohood gatherings etc. CUATRO GROOS, former NNA chair, current North Loop Planning Team Chair, and all around major neighborhood activist/supporter (and his family) have moved out of our neighborhood. A huge loss for us. Thanks for everything, Cuatro. You will be missed. Sebastian encourages neighbors, especially those interested in issues related to Super-2's, to attend the North Loop Planning Team meetings.
